Madam Mira Dumbuya, M.A.
Board Member, Gender Justice & Security Strategist

Madam Mira Yainkain Dumbuya is a former law enforcement officer with 18 years of police service in Sierra Leone and 5 years with the United Nations in Haiti and New York, respectively.
She holds a Bachelor of Arts in History (Nation Building) and a Master of Peace & Development from Fourah Bay College and Njala University, Sierra Leone.
Madam Dumbuya is specialized in security, international investigations, and leadership training across institutions such as the International Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA Ghana, Botswana, and New Mexico), Columbia Business School, McCain Institute for International Leadership, Tuck Executive Education, and the UN System Staff College.
She is an expert in security strategy, gender-based violence prevention, child protection, and peacebuilding.
An International Security Forces Trainer with the Romeo Dallaire Child Soldiers Initiative she contributed to high-profile political investigations through Justice Rapid Response.
As Co-Founder of the Speak Up Movement and Harmony Salone, Mira has championed women’s empowerment, leadership, and human rights. She has led numerous gender-focused initiatives within the Sierra Leone Police, the United Nations, and national committees.
Her impact has earned her prestigious honors, including the UN Medal Awards, the Top 100 Rising Stars, and the National Women and Children’s Achievements Awards.
Mira continues to advocate for justice, leadership, and social impact, shaping policies that empower women and protect vulnerable populations.
